Paulo Gómez and Sara Jiménez founded Waiis after rethinking an initial idea focused on comparing prices for Uber, Cabify and taxis. The company, based in Manresa, ultimately turned to car sharing for commuting and urban and interurban journeys. After generating €2 million in revenue in 2025, it expects to double its income this year and is preparing to expand into France and Italy.
The acquisition of SharetoGo brings its team on board, including its co-founder and chief executive, Mario Levy, who will now lead the company mobility services division.
Project with the ATM
This summer, Waiis launched its peer-to-peer car-sharing solution across Spain after a year and a half of development. The platform lets people share journeys using a cost-sharing model and aims to provide a mobility alternative even for people who do not know one another.
The company has closed a €1 million funding round and has another €1.4 million round open, mainly to fund its international expansion plans.
It is also working on a project with the ATM to connect its system to public transport in Catalonia. The aim is for car sharing to complement public transport, particularly for first- and last-mile journeys, and to provide an alternative when rail services are disrupted.
Waiis expects to reach 100,000 active users by the end of 2026, defining active users as people who make at least one journey a month on the platform.
