Sharing a car to cut the cost of getting to university
Going to university involves costs beyond tuition fees. Daily journeys to campus can account for a significant part of students’ budgets and, in some cases, add up over the academic year to a sum comparable to the tuition fees themselves.
In response, WAIIS has found that more and more university students are turning to car sharing to reduce their travel costs. Sharing journeys to campus lets them split the cost of the trip and make use of empty seats in cars already travelling that way.
WAIIS and shared mobility among university students
This was the focus of Paulo Gómez’s appearance on «Tot es mou» on 3Cat. During the programme, the WAIIS CEO presented the company’s approach to connecting people with compatible routes and making it easier for them to share their regular journeys to university.
In this way, car sharing can make the journey to class more affordable and reduce the number of vehicles arriving at university campuses each day.
