Rising fuel prices are driving interest in car-sharing as a way to cut the cost of getting around during the summer holidays.
Fuel price rises, which can add between €15 and €20 to each fill-up compared with previous months, are leading many drivers to look for ways to save on their summer journeys.
The car-sharing option
Car-sharing makes use of empty seats and allows the occupants to split the cost of a journey. According to Spain’s Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT), between 80% and 85% of vehicles have just one occupant, increasing congestion and emissions.
A more flexible, guided car-sharing experience
Against this backdrop, WAIIS has added a one-off journey feature so that people travelling to the same destination can easily share a car. The company says this option can cut travel costs by 30% to 60% by sharing expenses such as fuel, tolls and parking.
